Not ideal, but very good cellar condition have left us with some excellent juice here! The nose took it's sweet time coming around after about 60 minutes in the decanter and finally revealed the melody. Red berries, plum, aromatic cedar, tobacco and a little dust. The first sip was integrated and smooth with medium minus body and soft tannin. The fruit matched the nose, but the layers of subtle oak, leather, cigar, saline and wet granite added so much to the tune. Finish was like a good old song fade out... steady and more of the same.

(Trefethen Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Estate) This complex, dark-garnet Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a luxurious nose of blackberry, black cherry, plum, blackcurrant, black pepper, cola nut, and chocolate, with just a hint of black pepper and olive on the richly textured palate. Even after an hour decant this wine is still spun up. Lovely, cran, blue berry fruit. Long finish.

Decanted and tasted, wow this was surprisingly good, currants cassis, dark plum, cherry cola notes, fruit galore, super long finish.

Drank SxS with the 2005 reserve. Still a lovely wine but has reached peak maturity.

Grossly disjointed, black licorice mess.
