Vinturi'd into a decanter, and let sit for about 10 minutes...the natives were getting restless, so poured into Reidel Oregon pinot stems, and got to it. Nose of some cherry and earth...light and subdued aromas. Light bodied, w/flavors of black cherry standing out. Not what I was expecting, as '06 was a warm vintage, and the Pfeiffer vineyard is in Junction City, which typically gets warm...I was thinking more of a big pinot, richer and dense. Not the case at all, a balanced effort, that opened up after an hour or so, and was true to the varietal, totally enjoyable.
Tasted at the winery and also drank a bottle with dinner at the winery. Terrific wine, drinking very well now. Very well balanced fruit and earthiness. Fragrant nose. Went perfectly with the halibut with roasted fennel and leeks in an orange sauce and yet also stood up to the duck cassolet.
