At first a bit closed and dry -- almost as though the fruit has dried out. But with about an hour in the glass, the dry veneer dissipates, and some fruit, with some nice savory flavors, begins to emerge. A bit of sediment near the end cut short what was starting to be a more enjoyable wine.
Musty nose with elements of dark berries and prunes palate of sweet prunes and dry forest floor. Still some tannins. This is a bit more mellow than earlier in its life. Finish is medium and dry. Chalky tannins at the end. (375'ml)
Cassis, black and earthy, forest floor and fresh herbs create the nose. The wine is medium bodied, soft textured and ends with a sweet and tart, dusty, elegant finish. This showed a lot better a few years ago. But who hasn’t?
