On opening, the nose was closed and giving very little. A bit of bricking at the meniscus. Over the course of 75 minutes it opened and gave more than just ethanol vapours. The raspberry- currant nose amplified .The palate was plush (grenache) and velvety all along. Would drink these up as the wine started to fade after 75 minutes.

Aged, red/brown colour. Medium body with good acidity. Smoke, leather, dried cherries and some dry herbs - slightly sweet. I would say on a downward slope from here.

Barossa Valley - Penfolds, Yalumba and Torbreck (B+R): Actually I had this wine in fifth place. Although good this Cab/Shiraz blend did stick out from the rest in the flight. Expected more.

Popped and poured, brownish cherry in color. Simple to the nose, medium body soft finish. Seemed as if it had higher than usualy alcohol content.

what Wrighty said. The finish was a bit short and mildly disappointing.
