  • Bomb, so so fresh still, quite impressive. Very long, doesn’t end. Slightly lighter on the palate than what you could expecg

  • A blend of Garnacha (60%), Tempranillo (30%) and Viura (10%). Aged for 4 years in oak barriques and for further 6 years in bottles before release. The back label has a small text saying "Crianza" in place where the recent vintages have the "Gran Reserva" designation. 12,5% alcohol.

Luminous, pale and fully translucent onion-skin color with a brick-orange color. The nose feels old and quite oxidative with somewhat tired aromas of bruised apples and chopped walnuts, some syrupy tones, a little bit of earth, light notes of damp straw and a hint of wood bark. The wine is dry, old and dull on the palate with a medium body and tired, oxidative flavors of rancid nuts, some sharp saline notes, a little bit of wood bark, light earthy notes, a hint of peanut skin and a touch of tangy rancio. The wine is high in acidity with a tiny bit of tannic grip on the gums. The finish is long, dull and oxidative with a tired, unpleasant aftertaste of peanut skin and saline minerality, some damp earthy notes, a little bit of bruised apple, light wood bark tones and a hint of hay.

Ugh. This was completely dead on arrival. Oxidized, flat and unpleasant. A big disappointment.

  • Shared with and enjoyed by all 7 drinkers at our annual pig roast. I have had this wine several times and it always shocks me how a 23 year old rose can last. Pale orange/pink in color. Not fruity, but nice minerals, steel and earthiness on the palate.

  • Dinner at Olivia (Olivia, Keong Saik Road, Singapore): An interestingly aged rose, this was very decent without quite being a really great wine. The nose still had an edge of coconutty American oak on it, along with drifts of raspeberries and roses. Quite unlike any rose I have ever had. The palate was really dry and structured, almost like a red wine, with a faint suggestion of oak-driven tannins and a spine of fresh, lifted lemon acidity running through red berry flavours with a bit of smoky spice at the edges. The finish was nice and open, with a decent length. Enjoyable without being spectacular - this has the legs to age far longer though.

  • Good but lacking a little bit in the mid-p, slightly less color and character. I think the 2000 is perfect now. Tournament of Rosés

    (R. López de Heredia Rioja Rosado Viña Tondonia) Like a light bodied fine sherry, great with food, slightly oily texture; medium-plus finish
