Very dark, harmonious palate, with smooth berry fruit with a lot of richness. Poggio Antico has disappointed me in the past with what I find to be heavy oak and murkiness to the palate, but this is lovely. Develops an interesting rye note to go with the dark cherry and sweet tobacco palate. Per R, this is "in condition, on point". Wine room at the Rio in Vegas, with R and Jeff S.
Sappy but precise and pure notes of strawberry preserve and raspberry overly lighter dusty leather and mushroom notes. Fruit has an almost Giacosa like quality to it. Palate is full and fresh, with long finish. With time, deeper earthy notes fill in the bottom register. Still has plenty of energy and refined tannin. WOTN.
My last bottle of 9. The last few have been hit or miss, and I was pleased that this last one showed so well. Showed the lovely spicy plum nose and palate that I love when this wine is showing well. I think that my estimate of longevity in my previous note was overstated. Drink up.
Drinking very well, still red and youthful, nice fruit, good but not great length, started to fade a bit after three hours, outstanding with a meal right after open. Agree with other notes that this is not overtly Brunello.
