Some visual evolution. Still opaque in the middle but fading to garnet at the edge. Cedar, mint, blueberry, raspberry, and graphite are all present on the beautiful nose. On the palette, more blue and red fruit, more cedar, and more graphite. Plenty tannin. Epic length. Like the other high end 2008s I’ve had (Pavie Macquin and Duhart Milon) it’s great now, but with significant upside.
A big, dark, inky bastard this one is! Deep berry fruit, hints of cinnamon, and a whiff of green pepper. The tannins are still primary, somewhat remarkable considering the age. I will let this rest another 2-3 years and then revisit.

A good 12 years since we had this last ( Papies 93) . The first of the Michel Rolland Pontet Canets and we remember back in the day how different it was vs the others albeit age 4 at the time. With age this has become graceful and ever so classic , old school left bank beauty. We even felt there was no need to decant it. Effortless and albeit not the best PC out there still a very elegant and beautiful one 92-93 and we regret selling our EP allocation some years back.
