  • Holding up pretty well, though I wish the fruit could have benefited from a screwcap rather than this cork. Put in the shade by a 1999 Grange tasted at the same time, but still a top class drop.

  • The wine is clear, pale tawny.
On the nose, it’s clear with medium+ intensity. I get plum and dark fruits, and a lot of tertiary aromas such as leather, prosciutto and game notes. There is a touch of chippings of iron/metal at the back of nose. Then the violet and floral aroma start to shine with integrated smoke, vanilla and cedar wood. The wine is fully developed.
On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acidity and very high structural tannins coating the mouth. It’s high in alcohol and full bodied. The wine has pronounced flavour intensity of dried dark fruit, spice and meaty savoury flavours. The finish is very long with dark chocolate lingering.
Overall, this is an outstanding wine. Great balance between big concentrated fruits and surprisingly structural tannins considering its age. Highly complex with primary and tertiary aroma and flavours. Very long finish. Definitely suggest to drink now and it’s not suitable for further ageing. The only thing if I have to be picky is that the alcohol 15% is a little too high and slightly burning in the tongue.

  • Still holding up well though I don’t see any upside from here. My last bottle of 6 - still some great licorice and clove flavors with a bit of stewed fruits. Long finish with decent astringency.

  • A bit awkward upon opening with candied Grenache flavors dominating with a quite a touch of oak. The wine reminded me of some of Tensley's wines in that I would suspect that it was made using whole cluster fermentation. As it opened up the acidity kicked in and it became much more enjoyable. Delicious in the end.

  • Outstanding, lovely mellow cocoa and leathery notes.
