Spicy, vibrant and fresh, the wine offers intensity and concentration. Peppery, smoky, with loads of cigar, dried flowers, red fruits and spice. The wine is long, mineralistic, and intense, as well as long, concentrated, youthful, and complex. Drink from 2024-2050.

4 of 12 Decanted @ 3:00 served @ 8:00. Initial impression was younger, darker and less evolved than the last bottle. Paired with the 1999 at dinner. This opened up quite a bit by dinner time, showed layers of red fruit, fine grained tannins, good minerality and spice, it was more elegant than the richer, denser 99. This is in a very good place and should improve a bit over the next 10 years.

Small glass shared by my friends at the next table. Black and red cherry aromas and flavors, with both fresh and mature elements, all well spiced and well balanced. So good now.

Thanksgiving Mondo Dinner 2023 (Atlanta, GA): Tasted double blind. This did not show as good as it should have. I was convinced this was a mid-90's Cote Rotie from a great producer. Maybe a non-Guigal La La?

Northern Rhone Dinner (2012/2005/1998 focus) (Chez Lagragne): Tasted a bit muddled and demure relative to the 97 served side-by-side and my prior experiences with this wine. Good enough, but 1998 Chave should not be simply good. Questionable bottle IMHO.
