(Domaine de la Pépière Muscadet Les Gras Moutons, Loire Valley, France) Muscadet has gained prestige in recent years, as demonstrated by the new category of Muscadets de haute expression originating from specific terroirs. Marc Ollivier’s offering, from a parcel in the highly regarded vineyard of Les Gras Moutons, is subtle and complex, with aromas of lemony fruit, minerals, yeast, and fresh-cut hay. On the palate, the wine is crisp and refreshing, making it a perfect foil for food now, but it has an underlying concentration that promises the ability to age for some time to come. A cornucopia of citrus! Very complex. Just starting to get a bit of lanolin. Robust acidity

Nice and lemony, but not too complex. Still quite fresh.
Consider this, though: purchased in 2009 for $13. The kids weren’t even plans yet.

Holding up well, but for my part these are still probably best young. This was good, but if there was a gain in complexity I'm not sure it is worth what was lost in youthful vigor and sharper acidity.

Light yellow in the glass; crisp nose, with hay accents.
Light-bodied and crisp on the palate, with a faint lemony-citric note and good persistence. Very refreshing.
