  • Not decanted, pop and pour and enjoyed over 3 hours. Better on the nose, leather, bacon fat and some black fruits. Not as long a finish on the palate, even touch short but a very elegant wine none the less and certainly not past it at all. Label says only 12.5 ABV, those were the days!

  • Cool and medium dark nose with blue fruits, purple flowers. Very savory - salty, smoke, olive. Mature and smooth on the palate with great presence in the mouth - some sap but good grip. Finish is smoky, earth, leather and olive. I like this more than the last time I had it. The flavors aren't perfectly in my wheelhouse, but this is impeccable old-school Syrah. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1-1.5/2 = 16.5-17/20.

  • Just like the last bottle I had. Classic, old school Côte-Rôtie and once again, Z and I seemed to like it more than Seth did. At least we're consistent. There's a stunning fragrance combining black and green olives, herbs, leather, smoke, and cured meat, and it's remarkably light and graceful on the palate with the fruit still very fresh and lifted by a spine of bright acidity.

  • Nose of olives, meat, and dried meat, smoke. The palate is funky and a touch weak at points with flavors of smoke and meat. Tart citric finish. Salil and Z liked this better than I did. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5/20.

  • Grand Sich excess: Another superb bottle of this. Fully mature and so easy to drink now with a really polished, graceful palate presence, and an array of savoury meaty, leathery, smoky, and briny olive notes all coming together on the nose and palate. Time brings out some sweeter red fruited and white pepper notes, and it keeps getting more complex and layered with air. Wonderful, very classic Côte-Rôtie.
