(Elderton Shiraz) Group's #8 (my #5) – 59 pts; 0, 0, 1, 1 – Dark red violet color with pale meniscus; evocative spice, cigar box, rosemary and berry nose that changes, after 20 minutes, to a Rhoneish bacon and tobacco nose; herbaceous, pepper, pepperoni and tart black fruit palate; medium-plus finish 91+ pts. (least in keeping with the flavor profile of the rest of the flight, which some downgraded it for)

Dark purple youthful color without bricking. Blackberry jam and some mint in the nose. Pruney, ripe, low acidity and just a bit of tannin. I haven't tasted a Barossa Shiraz in a while and this seemed like a pretty typical authentic Barossa. 13.5 % abv certainly isn't over the top, but lacks a little freshness.
