  • Popped and decanted due to crumbly cork to accompany roast chicken with fennel. Medium ruby color. Fresh nose of cranberry, sea air, violets, damp soil. Crisp, tart, brambly red raspberry and mulberry fruit on the palate with lots of sap and almost crunchy texture. Bright acidity and firm but filed-off tannin to balance. Long finish of red cherry fruit cut with fine iron particles and stony grip. Energetic, delicious wine caught in its prime. Found ourselves repeatedly looking at the vintage and label, and commenting “This is really good”.

  • Well aged and rounded at this stage, drinking very nicely. Mild on the body with good fruit and a very nise and seductive nose. Feels liek a much older wine and really a good time to enjoy this.

  • Had on Easter Day. Very earthy, old world aromatics of black truffle, damp earth, cinnamon and clove spices with some ripe red cherries showing underneath. Palate wasn't quite as intense, but offered some nice red berry fruit, loads of earthiness, some toasty oak, finishing with great acidity. Not the best judge on red Burg, but I definitely liked this.
