Is Barbaresco actually better than Barolo? This wine at least could make one pose the question. While Barolos often are like a science experiment, this wine has a warmth and charm to it missing from its Germanic brethren in Piedmont ( as I said in another review, I consider Barolo to really be THE German red wine par excellence but in Italian garb, it is just Germanic to the extreme ).
This wine was maybe vegetal at first, with something slightly sour or flat to the taste. The next day it had transformed into an atmospheric and vinous masterpiece with a perfect melding of flavors in the dark spectrum. Flowing and velvety, warm and Chambolle-like, though I've only had one cheap Chambolle... Like night distilled into the glass. By the way, I love the label, but a friend considers this to be a lapse of taste.
