Well developed at this stage but still alive and kicking. Some ripe white fruit, a bit of peaches and nectarine, lemon curd, pleasant hints of petrol. Quite sweet for a kabinett due to its development, but still nice acidity to balance the wine. Decently long finish.

A private dinner at a friend's (London, UK): Wax and fruit salad, energetic and ripe, fresh and juicy, citrus and peach, hint of strawberry, lip-licking acidity, very elegant, light but intense, subtle bitters, very good length. Delicious.

Nick's four wine pairs: Everyone thought this was a German Riesling with a few years under its belt. The golden colour showed a little evolution. On bouquet, green and yellow apples, minerals and a little kerosene. Silky on palate with good volume and power. Quite lovely citric and orchard fruit and chalk. Low alcohol (8.5%) with a little residual sugar present. On the night, a great match with Morbier cheese. The next day it seemed drier and more mineral. This'll be really great in 10 years, I'd imagine.

A delightfully elegant Kabinett from Dönnhoff. Colour medium gold. Nose eloquent with white fruit, discreet flowers, minerals and touches of petrol and tobacco. Medium/light bodied palate with beautifully balanced sugar and moreish acidity, underlying roundness, gentle backbone and complex interplay of fruit, minerals with a sprinkling of spice and tobacco. Very good.

Hosting LI Blind 2017 edition (Jewel Restaurant Melville): Very good but lacking Distinction on day one. Day two it had more drive, penetration and flavor distinction.
