  • Bottle number 2 five year after the first taste.
    Dark cerise.
Complex, kaleidoscopic nose, Barolo-like: tar and roses, but ever evolving, wet clay, dark humus earth, blood orange, Oolong tea, confection, blood, leather, raspberries, crushed strawberries, primary, secondary and tertiary all at once..
Again Barolo-like on the palate, cola, Sri Lankan spice, lacy, filigree, strawberries framed by sturdy limestone mineralite, feminine, then suddenly dark sauvage, humus earth, masculine elements, ever evolving, at times jammy, then ethereally light. Still seems young... 5 more years till bottle number 3?

  • NYEtoNY session at Maison Dakota. Drank in Gabriel Standart, and then Grassl Cru on day 2.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of sour plum, pomegranate, dank green undergrowth, soy sauce (that strangely disappeared with more air on day 2!). Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sour plum, dark red cherries, brambles, dark earth. A bit more honeyed sweet red fruit elements on day 2 after lots more air. Medium+ to long finish with sour plum and sour cherry.
A real strange wine. Who knows how this could develop? Almost written it off when first tasted, but it seems to have made a bit of a comeback on day 2.

  • Bright cherry red. Bright red fruits on the nose with a concealed hint of earth and humus. Brisk verging on harsh acidity masks the palate, pomegranate, mulberry, minerality and a quite unusual honeyed flavour (taking abeille a bit too literally?) After 4 hours damp earth and a very strong mushroominess.
This really doesn't seem typical of Gevrey or pinot, but reminded me more of a very young Moulin-a-Vent. Think I'll be waiting at least 10 years to try bottle number 2?
