Community Tasting Notes (5) Avg Score: 87.2 points

  • PnP, which in hindsight was not a good idea, this wine needs decant time, I should have read the reviews here before opening it. The nose was fine, with cherry, light plum, earth and herbs. The palate without significant air time is overwhelmed by strong tannins and biting acidity and is quite austere with virtually no fruit or much of anything else apparent. I had to make the note now since I did not have time to let it develop in the glass, hence the score I have given it, I am guessing that with several hours of decant time this will open up and be more enjoyable.

  • Color (13/15) Aromas (22/25) Body, Structure (21/25) Overall Impression(28/35)

Strong wine, was not a fan favorite with the guests. I did have half a bottle left and it was much better the next day.

  • Average on night one, slightly better on night two and three. I generally prefer the Briccolero, and this wine proved no exception to that. Good typicity and build, but lacked some freshness. I would drink these over the next few years; aeration in decanter is advised - let this unwind, and above all, keep the temperature on the lower side of the spectrum. 13,5% abv.
