  • This bottle was an experiment on aging an unoaked CA Chard. It held up surprising well (perhaps the French winemaker helped & part of my decision to use this bottle). My friend, who is not used to drinking older whites, did not like it. So, yes, it acquired some funk both on the nose and palate entry, and a fuller mouth-feel (acidity gone at this point, but not a flat wine). Still wonderful with grilled sweet peppers and lemon chicken. Some tropical notes, did not veer to petrol side of things, and had a nice lengthy finish. Apple still prominent, but more baked than crisp!

  • Straight forward and yummy. Since it is unoaked, it lacks the thick vanilla flavors of the oaky chards. Flavors are crisp, but still smooth. Unlike the white burgundy style un-oaked chards, this one still has some smoothness, even without secondary fermentation. Some peary, melony flavors, with mild honeysuckle nose. Mighty tasty, even after resting in my cellar for a couple years.

  • Vanilla, not too buttery

  • Excellent bottle of wine. Very different than an oaked buttery Chard, but very good nonetheless. If you have never had an oak free Chard, definitely try this. I'd buy more, but the winery is sold out.

  • Interesting wine! Tried with a recipe for Penne ala Casa from Daniel's Pizza Pasta Cafe. Aroma of apples, hint of pear and spice, flavor is crisp and tart, but the wine is not light. Would buy again.
