  • Opened 1.5 hrs before consuming, served blind, upon opening light red, ripe cherries, rich, I brought this to a mini Henri Gouges NSG Les St Georges vertical, bricking, secondary aromas but will still age, lovely aged Burg

  • Wunderschön mit roter Säure und erhabenem Holz. Alles schon alt aber mit so viel Würde. Der Wein hat auch noch Pfeffer. Farblich sind wir irgendwo zwischen Granat und Backstein.

  • This wine is better than the 1995 Gaunoux Corton Renardes I have had a number of times over the years. If you drink this now decant for at least one hour plus. My bottle label reads "Les Rugienes Bas".

Medium dark cherry in color and clear. The Nose is wonderful as I swirl this in my large 28 oz Burgundy glass. This wine still has some structure to resolve and will likely need 5+ more years of cellar time to fully unwind nevertheless the more I sip the More I like the wine. Great purity of fruit with a tart cherry and animal nuances on the moderately long finish. The acidity is still evident but in time will calm down with the tannins. Even with the chewy tannins on the finish, this Rugines is delicious and very elegant. Glad I purchased a case in 2011 when there was still some being released from the winery. Can't wait to re-taste over the next 5-15 years. Score 92+ and maybe higher with more time.

  • Closed, tight, and tart upfront and took the course of a four hour dinner to open up somewhat. Palate superior to the nose with a unique flavor profile including rustic red berry fruit with both straw and spiced jerky. Lighter in color to both a '91 and '96 to the left and right respectively. The actual pro at dinner said this this was close to technically perfect. Not overly exciting to this amateur.

  • Dark ruby red with brick coloured rim. In the nose, there are minimal notes of ripeness (wet autumn leaves, forest floor) and also red and black cherries, some wild raspberry, nice melange of light and dark notes. On the palate, it's driven by acidity, but such acidity is well integrated, fairly light with red cherry notes, more edgy than silky structure. Nice, long, acidity driven finish. Really good.
