I've had a few more bottles of this now and it's not impressing quite as much as the first. Could use more structure. It's trending towards being a little flabby, overly sweet, and lacking in balance.

Great nose like before--baking spice, mushroom, red fruits blasting out of the glass. But I guess this is on the down slope on the palate. The structure was pretty much gone (where last year it was in a good spot) leaving behind sweet oak and a flabby taste. We had this after a S. Rhone red and this tasted lower in acidity. Drink up.

This isn't an ordinary California Pinot Noir. Amazingly flavorful considering how transparent it is visually. At 5 years after vintage there's a touch of brownish-red color coming through but the aromatics are clean. Round ripe cherries, strawberries, vanilla. The mouthfeel is quite viscous and I detect a touch of heat on the finish (14.5% alc). That said I enjoy checking it out - quite nice.

In hind site I don't think this was the best wine for Thanksgiving and the food pairing ultimately impacted my rating, but there is just something about this wine that is so interesting and enjoyable. It is not too mellow and not over the top. Nice roasted oak notes. I picked up 4 more bottles.
