Been cellaring this wine for over a decade and tonight, the kids are (finally) asleep, prepared a winter meal and its time to pull the cork. 2 hrs decant. Intense Margaux perfume with underneath the delicate red fruits loads of wood fire, rose petals, iron and cigar boxes. Palate of summer forest floor, black tea, rosehip, prunes and dried strawberries. Gently drying tannines guide you to a smooth long finish.
A lovely Margaux from clearly a different era with only 12,5% abv and more focus on refined delicacy.

Bouquet filled with earthy notes, cassis and ripe fruit. The medium palate is ready from the get go, ripe in a classic way, cedar, cassis, graphite and leafiness. Fragrant flavors, which I associate with the Margaux appellation but this time not at fore front, more at back but still there. Fresh acidity and resolved tannins. Long finish with salty licorice. More complex and a notch up from the recently tasted excellent Priure Lichine of the same year. This is simply great and at the peak of its powers. One of the highlights of this year, especially considering the QPR.
