Small dinner to try out a new restaurant (Mihan): At the other end of Nebbiolo - clearly more rustic, more mature, more meaty perhaps? Broad shouldered, with a hint of almond and peachstone. Decent stuff but - evokes admiration more than desire, unlike the perfectly formed Peroline.

A very supple, layered and silkily-textured Barbaresco that is at a plateau and drinking wonderfully. Bitter cherry, amaro and tar flavours, and after the finesse entry and midpalate, still some noble al dente medium to full-bodied Nebbiolo tannins slowly engage. A classic.

Nick's "Good Barolo and Barbaresco" Dinner - Friday 22 March, 67 Pall Mall; 3/24/2024-3/25/2024 (67 Pall Mall): Not sure about my notes on this one. Seemed tougher, more rustic initially and then gradually the fruit came into more focus. Good but not great, and suffered a bit by comparison on the night.

Nick’s Barolo and Barbaresco (67 Pall Mall, London): A little bit tight on the nose, spicy, mentholated. Medicinal red fruit on the palate, soft tannins, fresh acidity, medium length finish.
