It’s all what I don’t like about 2008 and none of the good. Searing acidity, but oddly quite tight, oak is unintegrated and it’s all gevrey muscle with none of the charming fruit.
am i the only one who finds rousseau village is such a hit or miss, mostly miss?
I wish I can say time might improve things a bit; but my crystal balls says no. Dujac 2008 msd is an example of a village wine with everything i like about 2008 and none of what I don’t, if people wanna calibrate what i’m talking about.

Little lick of oak initially on the nose, with tart black cherry fruit and licqorice. Mid-weight, elegant but juicy palate with very attractive black cherry compote, almost kirsch flavours. Finishes fresh with lifted acidity and more of those cherries, elegant but a lovely round fruit texture. Superbly balanced. Gorgeous.

Drank this in a 4-bottle vertical that also featured the 2009, 2010, and 2018. For me, the 2008 was not as good as the other 3 vintages. (The 2010 was my fave in this lineup.) The 2008 showed a bit of the classic 2008 lean character - a more acid-driven wine. Snappy red fruit took a backseat to the structure of this wine. The less boisterous fruit was notable in comparison to the 2009/2010...let alone the 2018 which was mostly about the fruit at this stage. Interestingly though, all 4 of these wines showed a strong family DNA line - even nosing the 4 in glasses, there was instant common ground with these sibling wines. It was a fun tasting to do with wine pals!
