Colgin continues to be one of my favorite producers. Even though 2000 wasn't quite as strong as some other vintages this wine was still just fabulous. That cinnamon, deep cranberry, neverending finish that I associate with the style. Delicious. Right in a perfect place.
Decanting for 4 hours prior to drinking. Cork disintegrated on opening so we'll see. Afterwards: Great disappointment. No distinguishable cabernet sauvignon nose, nuance, or complexity. Simple one note red, if tasted blink would never guess cab sauv. If at one time wine displayed classic varietal profile that window is gone. 2004 Turley Hayne Vineyard petite sirah that followed vastly outclassed this Colgin.
