  Last tasted 4 years ago. Significant fall-off of fruit in this bottle. Nose showed a touch of must and dried fruit. Good balance but shorter finish. Maybe a flawed bottle?

  Return to Napa; 3/6/2022-3/13/2022 (Wineries and various restaurants): The nose was giving me a bit of pause since it had a slightly musty, slightly off note to it. From the beginning though it was drinking well. Of course the red fruited style but also a touch herbal and even kindof some mouth wash. In a very nice drinking window right now (not obvious to me this will be very long-lived). Good clarity of fruit.

  Tasted blind. Nice red fruit notes on the nose, but with clear American oak influence (dill, chocolate, some green notes). Well structured with good acidity on the palate and lots of fruit and dark berries. Good finish. This is drinking quite well and while the type of oak is quite obvious, it's not excessive. Nice wine.

  I don't drink much 100% merlot, but this was the best I've had in a long while - maybe ever. Fresh, with just the faintest but pleasurable hint of green, like from a young birch tree. Perhaps that was from the American oak, but it wasn't off-puttingly "dill-y" to me. Not overly complex, but pretty tasty. 13.2% ABV. Would definitely drink again, but this was my only bottle. 91-92.
