Well made that has gotten more earthy as it has aged, but still with nice fruit. Has much more life to it and think it will continue to evolve nicely. The red berries and cola are very integrated now and there is now a hint of earthiness that is the first I have sensed from a P&H (probably because I don't wait 6 years to try).

This is a wonderful RRV wine. It has the breed and distinction of a single vineyard from this AVA. Beautiful brick red color. At its peak. Deeply colored for a pinot. LOvely. A complex nose of cherry tart with hints of spice and oak rather than earth and mushrooms. Again typical RRV. A silky mouthfeel that went bueatifully with grilled Salmon and lemon dill sauce. Sweet, juicy entry, with tart acidity, but then turns quite bitter on the extended finish. Still pleasant and complex.

I'll assume something was wrong with this bottle. Past its drinking window? Cooked by the state monopoly store? Whatever the issue, half went down the drain. Undrinkable. If scoring 70-72,

Shame on me for opening this at 3 a.m. at the end of the party. Luckily there was some left the next night--enough to see what a deep, thoughtful, woodsy dark berry, mushroom and earth expression of Pinot this is--even with a hangover.
