Tom & Deb Mortimer from Le Cadeau - dinner for 6 at The Kenwood along w/ Lonny & Kim and my lovely Nita. A favorite cozy wine friendly venue. I opened this at 3pm after letting it sit up over-night to push the sediment to bottom. Slow-oxed till 5pm when we left for the venue. Served on the low, low 60s. Tasted from Reidel Burg glasses. Semi translucent ruby red w/ lighter edges. Classic aromas of earth, forest floor & spice. Clean and healthy but I think this is at peak and should be drank up within 3yrs. Not as lean as some Volnays but plenty of Burg acidity and lift. Love the carry over of earth and forest floor notes to buttress the darker raspberry flavors. Excellent mineral and spice notes. Very complete. 92+/93- = 93 for me.

Restaurant note. Whole cluster complexity- needed the one hour slow ox and improving dark fruit, spicy oak, deep minerality, dark chocolate, and a little green pepper. With more time- cloves, and cinnamon- can still get better. Very nice!

With FC and AW at Cabotte. No formal note but this was aromatic and floral with quite sweet red fruits, elegant with soft tannins, fresh acids, decent length, certainly ready to go. Excellent.

Translucent ruby color. Lilting nose of faint but pungent saline, fennel, pine forest, berry, violets, plum pits. Layers of light bodied but intense raspberry, fine iron, earth, brier. Brisk acidity and softened tannin. Longer finish of warm sweet berry, iron granules, earthy satin. A good drink.
