Love Spanish wines, they offer great value and longevity for their price; here at 11 years old blackberry, licorice, chocolate take charge of the wine ... It did take some time to open but once there it was fresh with the right amount of everything.

Jorge Ordonez Selection. 14% abv. Label claims that the Almansa region is an excellent environment for producing wines of great extraction (code for modern ripe style?) Darkly colored; opaque. Cedar wood shavings on the nose. As to fruit, I get more dark plum than berries or cherries. The palate also leans toward plum notes. It benefits from having the wine with food such as beef or ground beef. It does have a long finish with a hint of bitterness at the end. I would probably not buy again.

(Bodegas Atalaya Atalaya) #2; COLOR-gorgeous dark black/purple; NOSE-a little plum component; a little grape candy juice; inky; very candied purple; PALATE-kind of thin on the mid-palate; nice smoothness on the back-end; I think many Cab drinkers would like this wine; a little generic; I've tasted this 2000 times, but a decent price point; I do appreciate a distinct cassis meets fig flavor on the back-end; well made, just a little over-the-top for me; I can see a lot of people liking this wine as it's easy drinking and delicious; JM-91; GV-87+

Not quite ripe, but well made, balanced and still well together and structured. This is an extremely good wine in good vintages.

Deep, dark, full-bodied and powerful. Surprising power. Drinking well now, no need to wait longer.
