Portuguese Reds (Sydney): Colour: pale ruby, tears Nose: Medium minus intensity developing aromas of leather, cheese, cream, slight red fruit and slight spice - clove - notes Mouth: Juicy fruit, slight tannin…disappoints after the promise of the nose.

I got lots of cranberry and some minerality on the palate. Nice acid. Seems like a food-friendly wine. No formal notes. At the price, certainly not bad.

{twin-top cork, 12.5%, A$20} Earth and iron and dust and a touch of cranberry on the mostly youthful nose. The palate is fairly rustic, with loose-knit gritty tannins, a kind of liquorice sweetness to the small red-berry fruits. Fresh acid. With this alcohol, avoids heaviness (good), but despite no unripe flavours, the finish is a bit thin (not so good). Medium-weight. Decent drink-now touriga-based wine offering a drinkable alternative to sweetish new world reds. Landed price in Oz is a bit over-the-top, especially considering the exchange rate. Needs to be about two-thirds the price...

Nice, simple wine. Pleasing. Not bad for under $9.
C: plum purple
N: tobacco, subtle black fruits
P: just like the nose (tobacco leaf, subtle black fruits), violet, supple tannins
F: short
