I honestly found this quite a let-down. A bit of rose on the nose but then simple red fruits - strawberry and cherry mainly, with hints of earth. There's not a whole lot of complexity to be found here.
Pretty much same on the palate with some almost green, tobacco like tannins. Almost like the structure has overpowered the fruit. Medium length only.
Baby Jesus (Bouchard), Yquem, Madeira, Rhys, RM (John V.'s): Purple/ruby in color. The nose has candied cherries. On the palate, this is already open and showing a nice complexity. Still young in terms of tertiary flavors, but this is quite accessible. Great pure cherry fruit but I would like a bit more acidity. Nice finish. I think this has a long life ahead but makes for nice early drinking.
Opened way too soon...but was still amazing. Somm friend who was working the floor stopped in his tracks when he walked by the table. Didn't take detailed notes but a bit shut down from what I remember from the presell tasting. Will let the others lay a few more years.
At a tasting, blind, and the first of three bottles of this wine. First time in a while that three in the group brought ypthe same vintage, same wine. I had decanted this one, and it made quite a difference. Medium garnet color, typical of all the burgundies at the tasting. Pleasant, complex nose, with red fruit and some floral and spice notes. Wonderful, soft and balanced palate, long finish. The others, without air, we're a little harder, but the pedigree showed through on all. At the end of the evening, we tasted all three again. Thin one, with two hours in the decanter, was still smoother.

(Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Grèves Vigne de L'Enfant Jesus) Dark ruby color; sous bois, oak, sweet green chilie nose; tight, silky textured, tart cherry, sous bois, mineral, green herb palate; medium-plus finish 89+ points (not as appealing as this bottling usually is, probably due to the high whole cluster inclusion in '09)
