quick decant after being open for several hours, the nose is red fruited and showing notes of bordeaux type wine, where this wine departs from the norm is the palate which has red fruits throughout and a large streak, almost too much, of vibrant herbs, not green, but wildly entering the dominance of flavors. An interesting taste but perhaps too much. A long and sweet and somewhat tannic/sharp finish.

perfectly executed oak barrel somptuous red, with clear wood, licorice, red ripe fruit, graphite and some dark chocolate. The limit of this Carignano Del Sulcis is that it lacks the typical Carignano's characters and may be confused with a syrah or other capages due to its excess ageing in oak barrels. Thick wine, monolitic . But - all in all - a great wine. Fast oxidation after three hours in the baloon...

RussK HWS Simone's Sardinia Tasting. Veneto volatiles on the nose. More tannic. Feels like a tight Ribera on the tongue. Fulbodied. 91-

Big tasty fruit, but still has an elegant feel to it. Also coffee and chocolate with a finishing sweetness. Quite alot of tannins at this stage.
