Give it an hour or more to open up and the taste profile for this wine shines. On the nose picking up on the old wine vibe with dried raisins and tawny notes and some leather. Tasting is where it is at and this wine still has plenty of life on the palate; round wide vibrant red and dark fruit front and centre giving way to leather, tar and more savoury notes mid palate and a long complex finish of cigar box and lingering tannins. Rarely disappointed with this label.

Coravin - Readiness to drink (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Leathery, baked concentrated black cherry, spice, cedar and dusty sweet spice, slightly oxidised almost, Acid feels clumsy and the impression is of a lack of balance, the fruit is muted, tannins are lightweight but quite chalky and drying, there is some vanilla here and plenty of alcohol heat on the finish. Nah.

Heavy crust. Still pours red. Blackberries on the nose, with some Heathcote muskiness. Blackberry, plum and confectionary on the palate.

Still drinking very well. Fully integrated and balanced. Perhaps it has lost a little bite, but holding up very well.

Some flaw present. Had an acetone note. Certainly not something one would expect from Jasper Hill.
