This was a 16 year old wonderful surprise. In 2012 Neal Martin gave it an 86 and said the tannins were harsh. Neal, you should have waited another 4 years! The wine was fresh, tannins had subsided to the point of just giving the wine character and body, nothing at all hard, austere, and uncompromising. Ok, I'll admit the bottle I had about 10 years ago could be described as harsh, austere and uncompromising. It just needed 10 more years to turn into a real beauty. Nice fruit, excellent balance, and intense enough to pair well with spaghetti and spicy Italian sausage. It would have given last night's Araujo a run for its money.
Really great wine. Had at a wine tasting of 8 of us drinking 6 bottles and this came in #1 overall. Very complex, smooth, buttery, vanilla, lots of ripe berries. Just a really great bottle overall. Worth $45-50??? Up to the person. A great bottle for a special occasion.

(Errazuriz Don Maximiano Founder's Reserve (Aconcagua)) Varies with the vintage, but 100% Cabernet Sauvignon in 2000. Ripe and exotic, with great depth and concentration. Full, structured, yet elegant and pure. Lovely fluidity on the palate, with balanced structure and dense extract. Very good style indeed.
