  • Dark carmine with a brown edge. Beautiful expressive and complex bouquet with fruits and a lot of good oak. The tannin is completely melted and soft. Due to the vintage there is quite much acidity and the wine is not really full bodied, but it is very rich in different tastes. Really a success for the vintage.

  • Deep dark carmine with a brown edge. Deep, rich and mature bouquet with hints of ripe cassis, black berries and good oak. Firm wine with (black) berries and good bitterness. The tannin is beautiful in harmony; little sticky and a little dry. No mistake about it: this is a superb wine, definitely considering the poor vintage. The wine is so full bodied and complex and has such a beautiful aftertaste. Seems to be perfectly mature but has enough good tannin to last for several more years. This is one of the Gruaud wines why I am an absolute lover of this chateau. Although…..some more recent vintages did not live up to the expectations. About the 1977: Officially I score this wine 88, but considering the vintage this effort should be worth about 95 or 96.
