Jaminess is gone as you’d expect, leaving a very deep dark balanced wine. Tannins are integrated, a very smooth drinker. Seems like it will make 20 years without a problem.

A very solidly good wine that was surprisingly built to last. Tannins are still holding 15 years in. Great balance and fruit. It's probably just now entering its prime drinking window, but I expect this to still be good 5+ years from now. Not sure if it will ever develop secondary characteristics like BDX. It has basically been a wine that was good young and still holding just fine. I'll be drinking my bottles regularly at this point because I would be concerned that it will never be anything more than a good wine. Again, very impressive at 15 years old.

Tasty; clearly made to be delicious. Big dark fruits on the nose (blackberry, currant, plum) alongside vanilla and some spice & herb tones (clove, bit of olive). Mouthfilling & creamy, leaning on those fruit & vanilla flavors up front. Somewhat soft structured but backend has ripe tannin beneath the fruit and just enough acid to hold it together, with a bit of alcohol showing as the herb & spice tone on comes in.
Little movement since my last bottle many years back, surprisingly so. All of these RM Napa bottlings seem to hold, with little evidence of becoming more lean. Perhaps that bit of heat may point to drink in the near or mid term, but still is quite lively & delicious 14 years in.

Not a remarkable wine. I’ve enjoyed the lineup of RM Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays for well over a decade but have kept a “hands-off” policy on the cabs until recently. Maybe that’s a mistake.
This is a better than average Cab but not nearly as good as a 2017 we opened recently which, while young, was a real joy to drink. The 2008 seems a bit tired. All the elements are there with tobacco, dried herbs, plum, leather and cedar but they seem to be a bit separate rather than in harmony - as though they evolved at differing paces.
At the 2 hour mark it is slightly improved. Drink em if you got em

Rich and dark with some chocolately oak. Not really in my or Ann's wheelhouse, but our kids loved it.
