  Just short of the plumminess of the bottle of three years ago, this is a great bottle, although atypical of Caillerets in its power and massiveness and without the delicate Caillerets texture. A haunting nose, dark fruits, full-bodied, round, long, pure. Cellared since original release.

  I'm biased, as this was my epiphany bottles of Burgundy many years ago (opened in honor of Jeremy's wedding). Opened at 5 pm, to an immediate burst of fruit into the entire kitchen.   The dreaded 1990 pruniness is just beginning to invade this wine. Still very drinkable and the pruniness is probably well disguised with the right foods, but this wine is not what it formerly had been. Cellared since original release.
  
  Add on edit -- the second day, the pruniness is gone. The wine is ripe with dark plum fruits. Not really much Caillerets character, but still a decent bottle of Volnay.
