A celebration of 1983: From Jeroboam. What a privilege being able to taste this wine. Great nose with good depth that's more subtle that I would have expected, but it really woke up with some air. Lemon, honey, and mineral notes dominate. Great acidity on the palate with more minerals and rich fruit along with lemon, and a slight peach/apricot note. Long finish. What a lovely wine, although it maybe didn't quite have the complexity I expected. Difficult to put the label bias aside, but I think I preferred the Remoissenet by a hair...

Wine Tasted at Acker Auction (Marea - New York NY): In 83/00/10 vertical, small tastes of each. All three were brilliant is such different ways that I could have agreed with any of the three as best or most enjoyable. 1983 from magnum, and my personal favorite. Dark color was a slight concern to start, but that quickly passed once smelled. Summer flowers with rich apricot and that faint background botrytis that makes great older white Burgundy so brilliant. Clearly ripe, but the structure is there, just off center, staying out of the limelight, but keeping this so bright. Brilliant.

JK's 50th Birthday: Magnum 000181/3586, advanced color, lots of residual sugar, even some petrol. Honeysuckle, clean chaomomile flowers, rich, heavy, creamy. Ripeness is translated with superb clarity. I cannot take my nose off it (easily 98-100pts), charming, regal, what a garden. Damn that deep heat. 96 for what is in the glass, should be much higher.
P.S. empty bottle smells like smoked roasted honey sweet potatoes. Incredible life of substances.

Orange color, unfortunately looks, smells and tastes quite advanced. (000023/3586)
