  • Dang, so this one had a lot of funk upon initial cork pop. Took about 30 minutes but when it shed the funk, the darker black fruits and dark chocolate notes were very present. Espresso bean and black licorice, mature, ripe blackberry cassis. It had some softer tannins on the finish, the dusty tannins had integrated quite well with the rest of the wine elements. The finish was still quite robust, and hasn't really lost much. I would not hesitate to hold this one for another 3-5 years, but really I would just drink these up now and age the younger vintages.

  • Amazing right on the nose. Deep, incredible dark cherries, chocolate and hints of licorice! This baby is ready to enjoy now and likely for a few years to come!

  • Very interesting Bordeaux blend, with a nose & palate similar to French. Captivating nose and velvet smooth on the palate. From a friend's cellar, and I hope to experience it again.

  • I took this one a little while to get going. Probably a good solid 45 minutes before some of the plum and prune notes started to give way to aged black cherry and blackberry. When it did, smoky black cherry was on the other side of the curtain. Very herbal, had a lot of volcanic influence and red clay which you can usually only see in the Cabernet Sauvignon when they are aged. Finishes with classic Rutherford dust. The tannins are definitely giving way and starting to drop out of the bottle. This wine is definitely showing its age, and there for a while I thought it was on the downward slide. However, this one still has a fair amount of life left, but you need to give it an hour in the decanter at this point.

  • In the prime of drinking IMO. Took about 30 minutes to find its legs but when it did? Dang. Mature black cherry which has definitely found its stride. This is showing signs of age but they integrate and balance well. Black pepper and Rutherford dust finish. This is right at the top right now and I really don't see it improving much with appreciable bottle aging. I would make a plan to drink this in the next five years for sure. This is a classic aged Rutherford cab that doesn't disappoint.
