The lovely long, savory finish saved this wine for me. Some signs of ageing in the glass. Nose had a core of sweet fruit intermingled with olive and a bit of heat. Heat more noticeable in the mouth, but much less so with food. Nice meatiness as well. A nice balance of acid and meat / olive mélange on the long finish that made you want to pick up the glass again.
Decanted1hr. While I enjoy the Rotie reds, it’s really the white wines that normally make its way into my shopping bag. That being said, this 2010 N. Rhone was a really nice treat, and has performed well each of the three times I have had it. Snappy blackberry fruit rides a medium bodied palate, feels Rhonish, perhaps a semi modern St. Joseph would be the best Old World comparison. Clingy finish, and all around very solid.

(Rotie Cellars Northern Blend Washington State) This is the first time Rotie’s Northern Blend has come exclusively from Walla Walla Valley fruit and, once again, this wine delivers. This is an aromatic wine with floral notes, mineral, black pepper, black olive juice, and a meaty streak. The palate is full of soft, meaty, perfumed savory flavors with bright acidity and a long persistent finish. Fans of this rising star winery will not be disappointed. 95% Syrah, 5% Viognier. Dwelley, Patina, and SJR vineyards. 14.2% alcohol. 605 cases produced.

Rich and delicious, full bodied wine. Tounge coating and velvety. The viognier supports this wine very well. Mature wine.

Decanted 2 hrs. Mostly resolved, big, good fruit intensity. Day#2 Still big, yet a little smoother.
