The surprise of the week. Almost flawless cork showing no sign of age, and a solid lower neck fill.
Opens with a lovely light scent of vanilla and a little cherry and some tertiary smells and flavors evident but not overpowering. Almost no noticeable bricking and a beautiful deep color not unlike it had years ago.
Nice mouthfeel and a tart dryness lingers. If it had held up a little more fruit, which has faded, it could almost be something out of Bordeaux. Overall, a survivor and still pleasant to drink, though faded. I am guessing the not all bottles of this have held up as well as this one.
I’d drink this early solid Washington Merlot effort easily over today’s fruit bomb Washington Merlots.
