Big bold pineapple and grapefruit flavors with plenty of vanilla on the mid-palate. Very much a cocktail wine and certainly holds up the "California profile" for a Chard. However, all that vanilla and butteriness is a bit too much for my personal taste. I would have been happier with something a little bit leaner. Great for having guests over, but not much of a food companion.
9/13/09 Similar notes as before, but wasn't quite as overwhelmed by the buttery angle. Matched up to food a little nicer with the pan roasted halibut.

15 years old, still dominated by oak. Vanilla, butter, and sweet canned pear. Just not my style. But it’s not tired. GAve away remaining bottle. C+

Wow, oak hasn’t integrated at all, this is just oak/vanilla on top of overripe peach/apple fruit with a lactic note on finish. C

Salted butter popcorn. Pretty big and rich. More of a fall/winter chard.
