  • The third night out of magnum where the wine really shows its age and spirit. Lovely plum and dark fruit, no longer cherry, more like hot blackberries on the vine in summer, touch of old wood barrels which are more mineral driven than vanilla oak driven, more of the same on the palate, lovely to drink, rich, smooth and enjoyable, medium/long finish. Three nights of pleasure for $80-a steal!!!!!!!!!

  • The magnum of wine was stored in the refrigerator about 55% full from the previous night's dinner. I reopened the magnum to drink with my chicken burrito. It had improved on the nose as it was now more intense with even more cassis, raspberry fruit, earth, and touch of white pepper than the previous night, more of the same on the palate, the oxidation seemed to make it easier and more supple to drink, terrific fruity taste, some complexity, medium/long finish. Went well with dinner. Enjoyed the second glass while bidding on the closing night of the Winebid auction.

  • Decided to open a magnum of wine that probably is ready to drink and enjoy over the weekend to celebrate our taxes are almost done. Nose of red fruit, cassis, and touch of earth, more of the same on the palate, very supple, easy to drink, raspberry and plum flavors in the mouth, good structure, nice medium/long finish. Terrific wine with pizza.

  • Wow, wow, nice job Ben, this has really rounded into form very nicely over the past 7 years. Knockout aromatics, bright, and floral. Gorgeous balance with fantastic acidity, bright raspberry notes moving to dark chocolate with a brooding edge. There are still some firm tannins lingering on this cool, elegant wine. Really very pretty. 64% Cabernet, 20% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot. It seems like a very Ciel du Cheval personality, especially on the floral nose. I'm curious what the blend is.
Day 2: Hoohah, this only improved overnight. Wow there is a lot of structure still here, more than I realized. Soaring, powerful, pure. Fantastic.
