  I had already had a couple cocktails at the bar before we sat down and ordered this bottle. With that said, very good Syrah. Even through my buzz I remember picking up on a pretty complex wine that had held up very well.

  I was a little more Meh on this bottle. Then again, I know I did not have the fairest expression of this wine. This wine was popped right after the party was moved upstairs. By the time I grabbed a few bottles and headed upstairs, a majority of this wine had been consumed. I got the bottom 50 ml, and I know there were probably some abrasive hands stirring things up. I will definitely tell you that there is mature pipe tobacco, tar, lots of smoke. I really didn't get a lot of fruit out of this wine. To me, on the verge of being in the gutter. I give this wine a 90 still because I am very impressed that a 40 + year old Syrah from Napa still had anything at all!
