Flott vin.
After 3-4 hours in the bottle, the 2008 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale is bright medium ruby in colour boasting a bouquet of fresh red currants, red berries with slight earth and fresh herbs. Juicy brilliant entry with fresh berries of pleasant fruit purity. Pretty structured with some tough acidity that might come in the way of its fruit flavours.
Another couple of hours the wine shuts down, with fruit flavours shyly hiding away, and acidity (alongside some alcohol) steps up its game. It's a strange point to have this wine at that given moment.
Nonetheless, after leaving it in the bottle for a total of 28 hours (with cork on), the wine begins flamboyantly showing itself with a beautifully attractive bouquet of expressive layered notes, an intertwine of fruit, earth, and even a hint of slightly floral notes. The palate definitely displayed a lot more balance and elegance with a persistent finish. Good NSG structure, but not too harsh. Will drink it anytime. Lots of potential here with this, definitely well-made.
Bright, translucent ruby. Really elegant and bright NSG with pretty aromas of red cherry and spice. Stony minerality on the palate and finish. Could use some more time for the tannin and acidity to settle down.
