The 47 Lynch Bages is a fun wine to drink now, fully resolved, immediately accessible, and offering the plush ripe fruit and soft textures imparted by the 47 vintage without the typical structure of so many remaining Bordeaux of that era (admittedly a self-fulfilling prophecy given what gets drunk young and what’s held). The dominant profile here is of red fruits - macerated warm redcurrant and red apple with a charming spectrum of red and brown spices. Still lush on the mouth, but it’s surely time to drink these.

Epic Bordeaux for an Epic Birthday!; 9/1/2021-9/12/2021 (Paris & Bordeaux): Started off pretty strong and was even some folks favorites although with time it faded a bit (fair for a wine that is older than my parents). To me this was always more secondary - leather spa and a bit of library and just a bit of saddle oil. It’s good though as an old Bordeaux and really fun to get to try.

The colour was good and nose just a little musty. There was some leather and meat notes and cassis fruit. There's plenty of density and power in the mouth and some volatility comes off as a Balsamic note of the finish.

British bottled. Dark. Amazingly sweet nose. Nicely fruity, too. Lively. No excess acidity that plagues many 47s. Very successful.
