Dinner with Fips/Rike. Short impressions: Mature color, very nice mature and complex nose of leather, cedar, tobacco, pencil shavings. On the palate also quite mature, a bit tired and flat. Still a very nice drink but clearly a wine that has lost a bit of it's appeal but still it is a joy to drink a fully mature Bordeaux. The '93 Las Cases drank at the same time was clearly the better wine. Very good plus. Drink up.

Nose of freshly cutted and wet grass, but a little bit green and reticent, with some red fruit at the end... very light in the mounth with wet wood, some ripe red fruit and even no tannins but well integrated... This is a quite weak vintage with very little pleasure... drink up if you have some left! (87/100)

Did not take notes, served from magnum for a large party. I do recall this was very nice for the first part of the night, it did seem to fade quite a bit towards the end.

Leoville Barton vs. Leoville Poyferre (Morton's NYC): NIce nose with cedar. Dry with flat chunky wooden tannins and some black licorice.

Took about an hour to open up, medium bodied, great cherry nose, long finish.
