  • Neck level good. Cork on verge of failing. Still of bright red/tawny hue tending to tawny at rim. Showing what appears to some chaptalized character but otherwise OK on nose. Soft and quite diffuse palate showing some green/vegetable characters but, not surprisingly for the vintage, lacking depth/intensity of flavour.

Overall, agreeable (particularly for a '77) but far from great.

  • Christmas Day Food and Wine: This was supposed to be dead because provenance was not just unknown, but reportedly poor. Interestingly enough, fill level was high (low neck) and cork came out relatively easily. Needed a little audouzing, but showed great deep nose of coffee and blackberry with some black currant. Really a meaty wine that had good balance. Color was getting darker and body becoming fuller with increased audouzing. Really a great experience to drink this.
