  • Jammy! Strawberry jam. Charcoal on the nose. Some dark fruit there. Fruit forward for sure. If there was oak, it has resolved itself nicely at this point. This has aged well and is in the right part of the arc.

  • At home with Val and Charlotte, in my forgotten bottles category. I remember having this with some basic Italian fare a number of years back and liked it...paired with some Nomads Pizza (spicy Sopressata.. and a Sausage).

Dark garnet color, mild separation. Nose a bit reticent when first opened, eventually showing dark fruits, mild oak, some barnyard funk (not bad...). Rich palate and fruit forward palate showing dark cherry, licorice/anise, smoke(?). Thick texture, typical of Paso blends (IME). A bit of heat on mid palate, lacking any real secondary characteristics. Full bodied, medium finish.

All in, a surprise to the upside. Thought this might be gone or further into a decline. This showed well for a $30 bottle with 10 years on it. Drink with Italian style dishes or anything with spice (it does have some guts...)Nothing profound here, a nice wine with food and has aged ok..

  • Black cherry in the nose, with leather and burnt tobacco in the initial taste. Spicy food brings out the fruit characteristics, which are big in this wine. Very well balanced, lingering smooth finish

  • For sure was time to open, could not have gone another year. Still big enough for a steak.
