The vines of this wine are 60 years old. The wine offers some slate minerality, red as well as dark fruits, herbs and spiciness and a good balance between acidity and sweetness. A really nice wine with a good qpr.
I had this with a cheese plate on 7/16/13. It had an intense, very ripe bouquet of black cherry, licorice, cola and spice aromas. The palate was ripe, rich and dense with a touch of residual sugar and flavors of black cherry, blackberry, cola, cocoa, licorice and spice.
Deep purple color. On the nose, minty with a hint of smoke, eucalyptus and stewed red fruits. On the palate, stewed plum and cherries wrapped in chewy but fine grained tannins and acidity and finishes slightly spicy.
