  • Still dark ruby but significant browning to edge. Nose of blackberries and chocolate. This is definitely seeing the fruit fading. Bit of meat and leather in addition to the fruit. There was no sign of the fruit bomb effect. Not really very complex or deep either as compensation. There is a clear alcohol burn though, not surprising at 16%. Overall fairly disappointing at this stage. I suspect I've actually enjoyed it more at the fruit bomb stage. It doesn't really seem to have the stuffing to really age.

  • My palate is over this style of wine. Huge extracted fig jam, blackberry, strawberry, skittles and some coffe/burnt caramel flavors. Very hot showing acohol right away on every sniff. I would not lay these down as they do not seem to get more tame with age. Might be a different story with Carnival of Love or other "high end" bottlings.

  • This is a good wine, but I'm not sure I like it . It is overly ripe and fruity. Lacks tannins but is nevertheless quite balanced. Weird. Don't know what food could match it, at least not the roast beef i had it with.

  • Concentrated cassis and cherry juice. Sweet start, Very juicy with spices and chocolate. Full bodied and a good balance between sweetness and acidity. Firm amount of alcohol and cherries in the taste. The alcohol was not really disturbing.
